The Onyx Framework (as of the release of Onyx.System beta 1) includes a solution file for Visual Studio 2008. It's only dependency at this time is Poco 1.3.6p1, which is included with the Onyx.System Beta 1 Dependencies archive, which can be downloaded from here.

Alpha and Beta releases are only distributed in source format and the dependencies for them must be downloaded separately. Once both the source and dependencies have been downloaded and extracted they will need to be setup in parallel like this:

<root>/Dependencies
<root>/Source

After that it is a simple matter of loading the solution file into VS 2008 and building the solution. The Onyx.System binaries as well as any dependencies will be automatically copied into the example bin directory and the examples should be ready to run.
